Dear Mercy Without Limits Family and Friends,

It is with a heavy heart, that I write this letter. I stand along with the Mercy Without Limits team, the mourning families, the nation, and the world in grieving for the senseless deaths of George Floyd and the hundreds before him. As a parent, I cannot fathom the grief of losing a child. Nor can I fathom the grief of losing a loved one due to structural racism. Yet, hundreds around the world have and they continue to experience it in an unjust world. For all those personally affected, I see you, I hear you, and I am here for you.

As a humanitarian organization working in vulnerable communities around the world, we at Mercy Without Limits have witnessed first hand the trauma caused by senseless violence and conflict. We’ve seen how when groups of people are targeted for things like race, they are disproportionately harmed. As Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”.  We recognize the need for and advocate for accountability and systematic change. As we stand in solidarity against gender inequality, religious intolerance, discrimination against refugees, and other forms of bigotry, we too, stand up to racism.

We pray for a change that brings about peace. A change that empowers people and amplifies their voices and lived experiences. To ourselves and our community of supporters, we encourage you to seek the knowledge and understanding of structural racism and other issues of inequality. At Mercy Without Limits, we will continue to serve the most vulnerable children, women, and refugees against bigotry, poverty, and fear. By supporting those directly impacted, and others around the world being targeted, we can and will build a just world. Together we can make a difference.
